Abstrak

Indonesia is one of the countries that produces horticultural commodities in the form of vegetables and seasonal crops, which contribute to production and inflation in the country. One of the diseases that contributes the most to the decline in production quality, crop damage, shorter shelf life, decreased nutritional value, and total loss from crop failure is anthracnose disease caused by the fungus Colletotrichum spp. A controllable alternative is to use bio-agents as controllers of Colletotrichum spp. fungal phytopathogen. They are chitinolytic bacteria. This paper summarizes systematic studies on the bio-agents of chitinolytic bacteria in controlling anthracnose disease in horticultural commodities. The sources used as references are accredited journal articles published in the last 10 years (2013–2023), scientific writings (KTI), books, and scripts obtained from the internet using keywords related to the research titles. Based on reviews of several studies, the identified species of kitinolytic bacteria have been shown to be capable of controlling the biological agent Colletotrichum spp. These species include Bacillus sp., Enterobacter sp., Enterobacter cloacae, Lysobacter capsici, Stenotrophomonas rhizophila, Streptomyces griseus, Paenibacillus ehimensis, Paenibacillus elgii, and Pseudomonas fluorescens. These bacteria are known to be antagonistic and can inhibit the growth of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. Inhibition against Colletotrichum capsici is achieved by the bacteria Bacillus cereus, Bacillus thuringiensis, Serratia marcescens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Xanthomonas sp., and Erwinia sp.
