Abstrak

Corn is the second carbohydrate producing food crop after rice. Corn productivity in Riau Province is generally still low, namely 3,359 tons/ha in 2021, one of the reasons for low corn yields in Riau is environmental conditions that are less supportive for corn cultivation. Corn is generally grown on Red Yellow Podzolic (PMK) land which is characterized by an acidic pH, low content of organic matter and nutrients. One way for plants to grow optimally is by giving ameliorant swallow manure. This study aims to obtain the best swallow manure dosage to increase the growth and production of corn (Zea mays L.) on PMK soil. This research was carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Research Center for Agricultural Technology Balitbangtan Riau from December 2021 to March 2022. The corn variety used was Nasa 29. Using a randomized block design with 7 treatment levels: (Control; 0 g swallow manure/plant + NPK recommendations; 100 - 500 g swallow manure/plant) and three repetitions. The results showed that the treatment of 500 g swallow manure/plant + recommended NPK gave the best performance of growth and production of corn plants, namely producing 9.72 tons/ha.
