Abstrak

Coffee farmers in Meranti Islands Regency cultivate coffee on two types of land, namely on peat land and swamp land. The amount of coffee production based on field surveys in swamp land is 1,000-1,500 kg/ha and in peatland is 700-1,000 kg/ha. Difference in coffe production in the Meranti Islands indicate that there are differences in soil fertifility from the two types of land, namely swampland and peatland. The aim of the study was to compare soil macronutrients in peat and swamp lands planted with Liberika coffee, thought to be the cause of differences in production. The research was conducted in a quantitative descriptive manner using field observation methods in Kedabu Meeting Village, Rangsang Pesisir District, Meranti Islands Regency and laboratory analysis in the form of macronutrient levels: Soil Reaction (soil pH), C-Organic, N-Total, Available-P and Alkaline Cations ( K, Ca, Na, Mg). The results of research on peatland showed that the soil reaction macro nutrient content was 3.67 (very high), K+dd 0.35 cmol/kg (low), Na+dd 0.39 cmol/kg (low) and on swampland it showed reaction macro nutrient levels soil 3.54(very high), K+dd 0.40 cmol/kg (moderate), Na+dd 0.22 cmol/kg(low). This shows no significant difference. Meanwhile, in peatlands, C-Organic nutrient content is 55.4% (very high), N-Total is 0.94% (very high), P-available is 40.63 ppm (very high), Mg-dd is 3.94 cmol/kg (high) , Ca-dd 6.62 cmol/kg (moderate) and in swampland C-organic 28.43% (very high), N-Total 0.57% (high), P-available 16.03 ppm (high), Mg -dd 1.96 cmol/kg (medium) and Ca-dd 3.06 cmol/kg (low). This shows a real difference. The conclusion shows that the status of macronutrient levels in peat and swamp lands is not correlated with Liberika coffee production.
