Rice is one of the main food commodities consumed by the majority of Indonesia's population. Rice often experiences weight loss of up to 5% which is caused by rice weevil (Sitophilus oryzae L.). Control of rice weevil using chemical pesticides still causes many problems, so the control is tested using vegetable pesticides like basil leaves. The aim of this study was to obtain the best concentration of basil leaf powder on the mortality of rice weevil. The research design used was a completely randomized design with 5 concentration treatments namely 0, 4, 8, 12, and 16% which were repeated 4 times each. The observed parameters consisted of physical changes in rice weevil, initial death, total mortality, speed of pest death, and quality test of rice. The results showed that the concentration of basil leaf flour at 16% resulted in an initial death of 10.50 hours, a mortality of 15.62%, a death rate of 1.90 head/day, and a rice quality test gave a brown color, has a smelly aroma, and the taste of rice is rather good. The conclusion of this study is that the concentration of 16% is the best concentration for the mortality of rice weevil.Downloads
